Accounting Lead (f/m/d) Food Tech Startup

Accounting at Planet A Foods isn't a back-office function, it's a strategic discipline. As we scale from startup to global player, the integrity, speed and clarity of our numbers directly shape every bold bet we make. As an Accounting Lead, you will transform our finance function from a manual operation into an automated data engine that powers strategic decision-making. You will own our full accounting cycle while building the scalable infrastructure that allows Planet A Foods to grow efficiently and compliantly.

You will report directly to the CFO and work closely with our Lead FP&A, external tax advisors, and operational teams across the company. And you won't be figuring it out alone: your onboarding is structured and guaranteed through close collaboration with our external Freelance Accounting Lead and our tax advisors, so you get deep institutional knowledge and continuity from day one.

• Drive monthly and annual financial closures and consolidations with a focus on "Fast Close" automation
• Own and continuously optimize our end-to-end Order-to-Cash (O2C) and Purchase-to-Pay (P2P) processes
• Run full-cycle bookkeeping (AP/AR/GL) on our current stack (DATEV Unternehmen Online and Spendesk) while leading our transition to a scalable ERP system
• Lead the evaluation, implementation, and continuous optimization of our ERP ecosystem from an Accounting perspective
• Streamline VAT and tax reporting through integrated system logic and digital filing interfaces, replacing manual processes with automated compliance
• Act as the primary interface for auditors, tax advisors, and authorities, moving towards a "Touchless Accounting" vision

• Degree in Economics Finance, or Accounting with 5+ years of experience in Accounting/Finance, ideally in Startups, Scaleups, or Consulting
• You've built or significantly improved accounting processes from the ground up, ideally in a company that had no system in place or was transitioning to automation
• Hands-on experience with booking and accounting tools,  and you're ready to help us migrate to a modern ERP system
• Deep, practical know-how of O2C and P2P processes
• Solid command of German Accounting & Tax standards (German GAAP) and modern automation tools; familiarity with IFRS is a plus
• Accurate, detail-oriented, and proactively self-organized, with genuine enthusiasm for AI workflows and process optimization. 
• Full professional fluency in German and English
