Your mission
At Planet A Foods, we want to revolutionize the food industry to protect the planet we love. We believe that creating better food ingredients, done by perfecting centuries-old fermentation technology, leads to healthier alternatives for us all and can save up to 500 Mt of CO2 per year.
Our first product? Yummy chocolate! We created the world’s first 100% cocoa-free chocolate called Nocoa. Our Nocoa tastes amazing with a solid snap and smooth melt as well as roasty notes and a subtle sweetness. In addition it is completely natural, gluten-free, vegan and made with only seven ingredients. Nocoa doesn’t only deliver on taste and naturalness. It is also kind to the planet with a breathtaking low carbon and water footprint, plus a complete mitigation of deforestation and child slavery!
On our journey to protect our Planet A, we are looking for a Senior Process Engineer (Food/Chocolate). This position is at the interface between R&D and production, and is responsible for the transfer and implementation of existing processes and products of Planet A Foods, but also the design, implementation and support of new processes and products, as well as the implementation of new technologies. Process improvement may include equipment specification, process design, and product development/improvement. Usage and implementation of continuous improvement principles, such as 5S, 8S and lean principles to focus on improving the outcomes of various processes. A process could be an actual industrial process (machines & products) or an information process. The Senior Process Engineer makes recommendations to improve the overall performance of the plant, production processes etc., either by increasing efficiency, or reducing cost and waste, or increasing employee and customer satisfaction.
Your tasks at Planet A Foods:
Analyze process requirements and evaluates equipment and systems to ensure deliverables meet or exceed process specifications and manufacturing requirements.
Evaluate and recommend new process technologies that optimize performance, are cost-effective, and will improve product quality, manufacturing techniques and safety.
Analyze trends to characterize scale-up and performance/functionality of processes and to improve product/process quality, consistency, productivity, efficiency, and risk levels.
Make observations and take measurements directly, as well as collect and interpret data from the other technical and operating staff involved.
Review existing data and reports to see if more research and information need to be collated, and assess the adequacy of the existing processes and equipment. Measure and systematize processes, reduce variations, defects, cycle time etc.
Work with engineering project leaders and maintenance manager to define Capex and work on new equipment start-up.
Analysis of existing products and new products to define how eventually the recipes could be optimized for the plant efficiency. Participate in products specification reviews
Work closely with other specialists, such as R&D, and QA (including personnel responsible for the quality control of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products) on trials
Interact in some cases with customers’ QA and or R&D to balance customers' requirements vs. BC equipment feasibility
Lead and manage the continuous improvement program. Apply principles and tools of continuous improvement when possible.
